Judges Comments
Alderman Davies is a school in the valleys of Wales that has an exceptional outlook on the welfare and learning of their children. They support the teaching of Welsh through practical means helping every child understand their language and heritage. Welsh is felt to be fun and relevant and is regarded as a key skill at all ages and in all curriculum areas. As a member of URDD they support the dynamic learning for children and opportunities to socialise through the medium of Welsh, taking part in Eisteddfods and jamborees.
At year four the children are helped to develop with language being supported through a variety of different topics and with support staff.
The judges felt that this school was outstanding in its ethos of the teaching of Welsh from the very first moment you are welcomed into this exciting learning environment to sitting down and listening to children converse in Welsh.
