2010 Winners
Judges overall comments:
The judges debated the cross curriculum and community based activities stating that:
- There was a lot of energy in all of the activities available to pupils
- There was a lot of evidence of creative teaching for example the use of year 6 students in one school to create worksheets for younger students in German, the innovative use of Drama and Film to create short plays thereby ensuring the quality of the language spoken, to the searching of appropriate skills right through to the parent body
- Schools had embraced the whole EAL and MFL strategy and had ensure that activities were sustainable and of a high quality.
- There was an excellent use of ICT to bring language to life
- It was nice to see the creation of a Spanish Choir
- Good use of Partner Schools including Games, plays, and peer assessment
- Some judges particularly thought the innovative way of teaching German, whilst on a abseiling outdoor experience was novel, yet made the language more real.
